THIS WEEK, LIVE!
MESSAGE: "CELEBRATING THE RISEN CHRIST"
DATE: 10th April - 24th April 2022
MINISTER: Pastor Sola Osoko
Matthew 28:6 (NIV.) He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay.
While the tomb of many great prophets and religious founders are filled with their remains, that of Jesus Christ is empty. He is alive. We serve a living Saviour!
So every stage and step of Easter is to be celebrated.
We invite you to join us as we celebrate the “Risen Christ” throughout this Easter Season.
Welcome to Eastertide (also known as Eastertime or the Easter season) or Paschaltide.
1. PASSION SUNDAY (April 10, 2022.) CELEBRATING THE PREPARATION
Scripture: Zechariah 9:9 & Mark 11:1-11
The beauty of believers` life is that it does not end in death but in eternity.
Easter is a time to celebrate the resurrection of life and the restoration of mankind to God.
We can live our lives with the excitement of knowing it is a preparation for eternity.
Failing to prepare however can have a drastic implication or even lead to a great loss.
Passion Sunday, also called “Palm Sunday”, is the last week of the Lent and the first day of the Holy Week. It is the Sunday before Easter, commemorating Jesus Christ's triumphal entry into Jerusalem.
It is the peak of the 40 days of lent meant to prepare the heart of man for God. Just like the entrance of Jesus Christ into Jerusalem brought a separation between believers and doubters.
The same way Jesus Christ symbolically drove out those who were buying and selling in the Temple and overturned the tables of the money-changers and the benches of those selling doves. We also need to prepare our hearts so that God’s Passover Lamb, can clean and restore us.
Jesus' presence in Jerusalem forced every person to take a side either with God or the enemy. You either join those chanting, “Hosanna” or “crucify him”.
Palm Sunday is preparation for Resurrection Sunday.
Passion Sunday is the ultimate celebration of the restoration of mankind back to God.
2. GOOD FRIDAY (April 15, 2022.) CELEBRATING THE CRUCIFIXION
Scripture: Zechariah 9:9 & Mark 11:1-11
The crucifixion of Jesus Christ is a story of betrayal and redemption.
It started as a “Black Friday” as Judas betrayed Jesus Christ and people choose Barabbas over Jesus. However, what the devil meant for evil was turned around for good by God.
The sad story ended in glory, and now we call it a “Holy Friday, Great Friday, and a Good Friday.”
Though sin shut heaven, Jesus' sacrifice opened it.
The temporary supremacy of Satan over the affairs of mankind was finished on that day.
Good Friday is good because though it began so sad, it ended so well.
We will seize the opportunity of Easter Friday to look at the last seven words Jesus Christ spoke on the cross and their implication for us today.
3. EASTER SUNDAY (April 17, 2022.) CELEBRATING THE RESURRECTION
Scripture: 1 Corinthians 15:13-20 If there is no resurrection of the dead, then not even Christ has been raised. 14 And if Christ has not been raised, our preaching is useless and so is your faith. 15 More than that, we are then found to be false witnesses about God, for we have testified about God that he raised Christ from the dead. But he did not raise him if in fact the dead are not raised. 16 For if the dead are not raised, then Christ has not been raised either. 17 And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins. 18 Then those also who have fallen asleep in Christ are lost. 19 If only for this life we have hope in Christ, we are of all people most to be pitied. 20 But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep.
Easter is the most relevant celebration in Christianity for it attested to the deity of Jesus Christ.
It was one event that demonstrated Jesus Christ as the Messiah- the only Man who lived, died, resurrected, and ascended in a glorified body. While the graves of other faith founders are still with us, Jesus' tomb is empty.
That incident did not only prove that He was whom He said He is- God. It also proved that all His promises shall be accomplished.
4. RENEWAL SUNDAY (April 24, 2022.) CELEBRATING THE POWER OF RESURRECTION
Scripture: Ephesians 1:19-21 and the surpassing greatness of His power to us who believe. These are in accordance with the working of His mighty strength, 20which He exerted in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly realms, 21far above all rule and authority, power, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in the present age but also in the one to come.
The Second Sunday of Easter is known as Divine Mercy Sunday, the White Sunday, or simply as the Renewal Sunday). We will visit the implication of resurrection in a believer’s life by teaching a message on the “Power of Resurrection”.
Christianity was founded on power and has thrived thereafter through the display of God’s power of resurrection. The display of God’s power down the ages is endless. The resurrection of Jesus however was the greatest display of God’s power (Mt.12:38-40; Rom.1:4) The resurrection power that raised Jesus from the dead is still in operation today and will remain the same forever.
By the power of resurrection, all things have been placed under Jesus' feet, and now all things are under our feet as well.
Now we have restored access to everything that Adam and Eve lost in the beginning, and this speaks of complete victory over every negative opposition and challenges we may face in this world.
PS: Easter is the fulfilled prophecy of the Messiah who would be persecuted, die for our sins, and rise on the third day (Isaiah 53). Remembering the resurrection of Jesus is a way to renew daily, our hope as “More Than Conquerors” who have been given victory over sin.
Be part of this transforming series and learn how to attract and sustain fresh anointing.
